"Living life one act of kindness at a time"

Hi! Call me Agape.

Who I am

I’m a wife. a mom. a daughter. a sister. a neighbour.

I’m also a recovering workaholic.

When I hit rock bottom at the end of 2014, I realised I needed to make drastic changes in my life: carving out time for myself, my family, my writing and my God. Fast forward six years, …

… I changed careers.
… became a certified coach.
a picture book writer.
… a gospel choir singer.
… and now a blogger.

I am a woman of many passions and many dreams, and I wish to share some of these with you through this Blog.

Some of my Values & Beliefs

I value relationships more than anything else.

I love to connect with total strangers, because we are only a stranger once! We are all one family. YOU are family!

We live in an orderly universe, where everything happens for a reason, and where all things come together for the good.

Each one of us is destined for an amazing spiritual journey on this Earth we call home.

My passions and values drive me and what I choose to write about, not what’s “trendy”.

I’m not driven by the number of likes, forwards or comments on a post. But rather by my ability to connecting with you in a positive and meaningful way, one person at a time.

My Christian faith is an important part of who I am, and who I aspire to be.

It was said that Jesus “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38). And so, my purpose in life has become to be of service to others, one act of kindness at a time.

Personal blog-hygiene 🙂

  1. Love, curiosity, and kindness will guide me. As well as logic, truth seeking and common sense.
  2. I look forward to connecting with both like- and unlike-minded people for an open exchange, that has the potential to ignite our mind, heart and soul.
  3. All comments have their place, except “trolling”.  If something doesn’t belong inside my home, it doesn’t belong on my blog.

What I write about

My life is a bit of a patchwork. I have a multitude of interests, spanning a wide range of topics. And so, my blog will reflect this patchwork identity of mine: a place where I share with you my thoughts, passions, worries, questions, hopes and dreams. Some of the things you can expect to read about include:

♥ Spirituality. Each one of us is destined for an amazing journey. Like an acorn is destined to become an oak tree, so is every one of us destined to become our best self. It’s an enlightening journey. And one we are not meant to take alone, but in the warm companionship of others. I’d love to be your companion and walk alongside you on that journey. Knowing that you are loved and cared for. That you are not alone. I’ll write about the spirit and the soul. Our hurts and joys. Our vulnerabilities and humanity.

Transitions. As a coach, I have discovered a true passion for working with those who are in some sort of a transition: Just became a parent? About to start your professional career or planning an exit? Facing a “purpose” crisis (also known as mid-life crisis)? Inspired by my own life story, encounters and challenges, I’ll share with you some of my insights and look forward to learning from yours.

♥ Children. I love our children’s free spirit.  I love their censor-free thinking. I love their logic. I love being part of their imaginary bright-coloured worlds. Most of all, I love how they do everything fully! They laugh fully. Cry fully. Tantrum fully. Forgive fully. Have an anecdote or a story you’d love to share? Send it my way and I’ll be happy to post it.

♥ Parenting. Parenting is hard work! Physically. Mentally. Emotionally. It’s 24/7, 365 days, and lasts a life-time. To assist you on your parenting journey, I’ll share with you my learnings to creating a loving relationship with our children based on mutual respect and kindness. We’ll also explore ways to create a compassionate understanding for ourselves as parents, so we don’t crumble under the burden of “imposed” expectations.

My hope for every parent and child: to feel genuine connectedness to each other – body, mind, heart and soul.

♥ People in the spotlight. We all meet ordinary people who touch our lives in some extraordinary way. Mabe it’s a next door neighbour who always gives, no matter how little they have. A local school teacher who “commands” her class through compassion and generosity instead of stick and carrot. The Tamil shop owner next door, who greets everyone with a smile.

I want to give space to these wonderful souls and their stories on my blog. May they inspire us!

Books. I have an insatiable passion for learning. As a consequence, I read all kinds of books on a wide range of subjects, just for fun. In fact, I’m the kind of person who joins online classes while on vacation, just because! So, if I come across an interesting book, article or course, I’ll be sure to share it with you. Also, as a picture book writer, I read A LOT of picture books! So, I’ll be sure to share some of my favourite ones with you too.

Theoretical models. Sounds boring? Hear me out :-)! There are many popular models and theories out there… For e.g. on what motivates us, how we learn, how we grow, how we should lead, etc. But what’s the empirical evidence behind them? Are they relevant? Helpful? What about alternatives? So, I hope you’ll indulge me as I dive into some of these questions with you from time to time.

Baking. I’ve discovered a passion for baking during this year’s (2020) Corona craze! Baking brought me a sense of sanity and comfort in an otherwise bleak environment. I’ll be happy to share with you some of my favourite recipes and learn about yours.
